On October 30, 2026, the new China Telecom Wangjialiang Big Data Center project officially broke ground in Shuimogou District, Urumqi. As a core node within China Telecom Xinjiang’s "One Core, Five Poles, Multiple Nodes" computing infrastructure layout across Xinjiang, the project will further improve the regional computing power supply system and fuel the development of the local digital economy.

Located on the west side of Nanhu North Road and the north side of Huimin Lane in Shuimogou District, Urumqi, the project has a total investment of 186.3466 million yuan. It plans to construct main buildings including a data center and a power center, with a total construction area of approximately 28,400 square meters. Supporting facilities such as road pipe networks, landscape greening and sponge city systems will also be built to balance building functions, environmental adaptation and urban construction requirements.
Planned and constructed in phases in accordance with national Tier A data center standards, the project is developed toward high computing performance, advanced technology, high energy efficiency and strong security. It will serve as an integrated computing hub combining supercomputing, intelligent computing and data storage. During construction, considerations will be given to energy consumption control, reliable operation and maintenance, and cybersecurity design to accommodate the long-term stable operation of diverse services.
Once put into operation, the project will expand regional computing resources and deliver stable and secure computing support for government cloud, healthcare cloud, education cloud and other scenarios. It will facilitate digital public services such as online government services and telemedicine, advance the digital transformation of public services, and support the steady growth of Xinjiang’s digital industry.
Computing infrastructure forms a fundamental foundation for the digital industry. The launch of this project will expand local computing supply in Xinjiang, support digital transformation and business innovation across various industries, and lay a solid foundation for the development of the regional digital ecosystem.
